The JOURNEY with Kid's Hope - 201112012
Submitted by Chris Wierenga
Our Journey ....What will it look like this year? Who will the Lord lead?
How many lives will be touched and changed? It is so exciting to think about!
We at SLCRC are beginning our 3rd year of "Kids' Hope" at Holmes Elementary.
Already so many hours have been spent building relationships, not only with
children at Holmes Elementary but also with the families of these children. Praise
the Lord! We ARE making an impact like never before in our community.
Jesus Loves Children! In Matthew 14, Jesus says, "Let the little children come to
me and do not hinder them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
I think part of my passion for his ministry stems from knowing that Jesus wants
every child to experience HIS love. Kids Hope is giving us the opportunity to be
Jesus with skin on to children that do not know Jesus.
As I sat in Shelly's office this Fall being challenged by stories of at risk children
attending Holmes, I thought, Dear Lord this is such a huge task. There is more
need than our church can possibly fill. Later I asked myself, is this true? NO!
GOD KNOWS the needs! He CAN fill them with the willing hearts of His people.
During our Kids Hope journey this year, I will be posting the names of the
children that are without Mentors/Prayer partners and as a congregation I' m
asking that you please pray for these children. We will pray God's blessing on
them and their families and we will also pray that God will raise up mentors and
prayer partners to fill the needs of these precious ones.
"Do not hinder them" Hummm .... is God calling you? Are you being obedient?
Without your obedience a child could be hindered ... *sigh. I'm not saying God is
calling everyone but He may be calling YOU. Obedience is always
best. ..remember Jonah?
I'm so thankful to partner with you in the work of God's kingdom. Let's just see
what God will do through us this year. "Prepare yourself? For tomorrow the Lord
will do AMAZING things among you." Joshua 3:5
