1Jn 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

I was drawn to this text multiple times this week.  I guess Valentine’s Day had something to do with that.  I shared it with some homebound members as I visited them this week.  I also shared it with the Love INC clients before our dinner Tuesday evening.  There are three key words in that text.  The first is “love.”  Everything begins with the Father’s love.  He always loves first.  That’s comforting to know.  I don’t need to create love; it’s been given to me by God.  The second is “lavished.”  God holds nothing back!  He loves … in abundance!  Tuesday night, we tried to show the “lavish” love of God to the Love INC clients.  The third is “children.”  As God sees us, he sees his children.  We aren’t puppets to be manipulated; we aren’t his indentured servants; we are God’s children!  We are his special sons and daughters.  God lavishes his love on his children!  I hope you have felt loved this week.  You have a heavenly Father who lavishes his love on you, his special son or daughter.
